I use "dangerous equipment" all week long...... every piece very capable of maiming me. Yet with the proper respect..... they are not a problem. Sure some unexpected things happen.... but I have seldom seen anyone hurt. BUT it seems to me....snowblowers have removed many digits...... SO RESPECT those SNOWBLOWERS...... NEVER take chances with them. It just never is worth the risk.
ALL tools need the same respect..... the time you don't wear safety goggles is the time you may wish you did for many years to come. I don't write this to scare anyone...... but to educate..... a healthy respect is a good thing!
A friend of my daughter just lost a couple to a snowblower..... He's a nice kid and even with a great attitude on life in general..... he made a mistake that will be with him for good. SO since I heard about this I have just been mulling it over..... feel bad for the kid. (but it makes me reflect on things in my life too)
Hope this is taken as a reminder to be careful....don't hurry, and don't take chances when the consequences are too costly. Shit happens..... but the best safety device is yourself.....

Good post Richard, I still have all mine and especially after fabricating for many years thats a good thing! I know several that have lost fingers and or done great harm and alot of it is not thinking / paying attention, daydreaming or whatever.
