Re: My dream car

That one is right up there, IMO, Odin.

My future wife and I started dating in '71, and her dad (future father-in-law) had a dark green '70 Charger RT 440 Magnum Torque-flight. White stripe around the ass end, NASCAR fuel cap. White buckets.

I had a '70 Chevelle 396 M-22 at the time. But I drove that Charger many times, and I knew this grocery getter would eat my Chevelle for breakfast!

Knew a guy back in the day that had a '69 Plymouth GTX with the 426 Hemi. He ordered it- radio delete, heater delete, NO WARRANTY.

He was like Milner... never beaten. So the local urban legend went.

I ALMOST bought the car he traded it in for, a red '69 Mustang Mach 1 351C 4-speed.

Those were the days...

Re: My dream car

Almost bought a green one when I was 18, Odin. It was pretty obvious when you popped the hood that it had been repainted. Couldn't get the salesman to admit that, at least it sure looked like it had been. The car was nice, straight, had a 383, price was right, had the money in my pocket...salesman kept saying,"Nope, never been repainted." I walked away. Have always loved them, though.

Re: My dream car

Yup... a pacer was for guys with tape in the middle of their glasses and chics who don't swallow....mind you when I was 18 I had a shovette with a hole right through the floorboard I put a piece of plywood over....drove that piece of crap for years...till it blew up, never let me down, even drove it through the tail end of the killer tornado Alberta had in the eighties, went through 2 feet of water and the sputtering motor never died?...the high point of its life was coming out to start it for work in the morning and some asshole left a full condom frozen on the windshield....

Re: My dream car

Man that Pacer is sexy. Wait while I put somemore tape on my glasses.

I came close to buying one of those (Charger not Pacer) in 68 (blue with white interior) but AMC came out with the AMX and in 69 I bought a brandy dandy new Big Bad Blue AMX 390 four speed that was very, very quick. I didn't go looking for races but never lost one either. It turned out to be a mistake because (it being a two seater) a couple of kids and a big dog later I had to sell it to get something that the family would fit in. If I had gotten the Charger I would probably still have it today.

Re: My dream car

Mutt... my memory is growing dim, but I remember my brother's 2nd wife having a AMC AMX. I*t was kitted out with the small block (was it a 289?) but it had some spunk of it's own right...

Re: My dream car

Loved the AMX also.....some of them were hot MFers.

Still want to get my hands on a Pacer...I envision a topless rat ride.
