commin home

It's been awhile since i've been around. Had my head buried in car stuff lately. To make a long story short...... i recently acquired a hot rod i built 30 years ago. I've been thinking about it for a few years now and took the plunge. Kev and i went for a ride one sunday afternoon to check out a 51 Merc. Always wanted one of those but turned out to be junk. Anyway, we drove past the town where my ol hotrod was and knowing the guy who had it, we turned in to have a look since Kev had never seen it in real. After a few hours of reminising i asked again like i had been asking every year for years....'is the rod for sale'?. He looks at me and says 'SURE'... TO YOU'. I realised i had to shit or get off the pot. I stretched my finances to the max and took the plunge. Sweating in delight i had it home in a week or so. Felt like a 'comming home' after all these years. I drove this rod to Oklahoma in 1983 for the street rod nationals, minniapolis a few times and countless other rod runs. The rod is basicly the same as i built it in 79-80. Same power train, same paint.Just some cosmetics like a wheel change and some striping.

A few notes about the rod
77 302 Ford, c-4 auto, vette rear end 4 bar link
original steel body i found in the bush
front axle is a dropped 'dago ' I beam, 4 bar link, mustang sterring, 4 wheel disc.
32 grille, hand made 3 piece aluminum hood 'i made myself'
did the body and paint myself along with lots of fab, chassis is pro built by Forzley chassis.
I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW HAPPY I AM TO GO INTO DEBT.

Wonderful ! I have known Ted for many years and this 28 has came up in many conversations, I am very glad its where it belongs now. Its an old build but you would never know it to look at it, well done and high end.

Re: commin home

Wow, I would have gone into debt for that too. Especially cause you built it. You were foolish to ever let it go anyway.

You must be single cause I could just imagine me telling the wife I am going to store my motorsickle in the living room as I am rolling it over the light beige carpets to the likely spot, I'd be living out in the garage with all of my toys.

Cool stiff though, shame you have to work.

Re: commin home

Wow!!! Fantastic. I love when vehicles come back to their rightful owners. My neighbour just got his '57 New Yorker conv back, the one he bought new in '57...
I wish I could get my '48 international back... or my '56 chevy 1/2... or my '71 superbeetle...
Shit, I'd even settle for my '93 sentra... I hate taking the bus.

Congrats Enfield!!! She's looking sweet, and happy to be home. If you need a place for your bike... I'm not far.
