Read it, it's worth your time.

This is gonna take a while so go get a cup o coffee or a good drink or whatever sets your mind at ease. Don't flip the back button yet, trust me this is worth it.

As many of you here on the BHO know I sold my Shovel last year due to some personal legal troubles facing my family, and used the cash to help pay for attorney fees and to keep us afloat during this time (i believe it's almost over). A few folks know about this, but not many because I have kept it private for personal reasons and I know you all understand and thank you for that. My lack of presence at all the INKY runs and the Dragon is for this very reason.........I have been bikeless! There are many here on the BHO whom I would greatly like to me and share a cold one with and shoot the shit, but somehow I just wouldn't feel right showing up at these events and not being able to share the road with you all.

I have also been very opinionated on how I feel about the brotherhood and how I believe it's been lacking for a while, i'm not talking about the "wave" or the "hey brother" that everyone seems to throw around as if they have earned it just because they ride a motorcycle, not the brotherhood i'm talking about! I'm talking about a real brotherhood where folks do things for other folks for no reason at all and expect nothing more than thier friendship and trust in return. I'm talking about just when you have given up hope a "Brother" will do something for you to show you there is a light at the end of the tunnel, something you never expected! I think you all get the idea now.

I have told you all this to tell you i'm the guy who has given up the hope of returning to 2 wheels and a real brotherhood....then something happened that has opened my eyes and I need to share it with you all!

Last week I recieved a PM from a member here and it went something like this.

Hooty,
I miss riding with you, hearing your stories, and seeing your pics (and the feeling is mutual). I have a bike in the garage that is a lil cracked up and I won't be able to do to it what I would like and I know you can, with this being said if you want it no strings attached come get it it's yours.

Knowing the person and the bike being spoke of, I was blown away by this gesture and set at my computer with my eyes welling up with tears not knowing at all what to think or what to say! I was emotionally broke at the moment and sent a PM back stating.....hell yeah, are you kidding me....of course I will accept! After a few phone conversations what it boiled down to was this "Brother" wanted nothing more than to see me build something and get back in the wind and the bike spoke of was the perfect canvas to paint a great picture on.

Ok so now we are all up to speed on what has been going on and it's time for me to reveal who this amazing gift was from.

Harley (LouEvo) and "Lady A" decided to give me the "PPE" (purple pavement eater) and all I had to do was go pick it up. Harley and A even put me up for the night while I was in town.

Now I don't know or haven't figured out how I will ever repay them for this, all I can do for now is promise to do my best to make them proud of the finished project (which will be a while cause i'm real damn slow).

With this gift not only have they given me a motorcycle to get me back in the wind, Harley and "Lady A" has restored my faith in the brotherhood and that's not something that can be bought with any amount of money! Thank you 2 so very much!

So for the upcoming weekend when the BHO members do another trip to the dragon and I hang back here (wishing I was there) I want you all to know you will be in the presence of 2 of the finest folks you will have the chance to meet and share the road, a few drinks, a campfire, and a few stories with.

There will be a build thread when this project starts and will do my best to make them proud as well as the BHO members.

Thank you again Harley and Andrea!

Hooty

Hooty,

Sorry to hear you had some problems and the bike had to go but we do what has to be done, we know our priorities. That was a very nice thing that Harley and Lady A did and as everone else has said it's what it's all about.

Thumbs up Re: Read it, it's worth your time.

I could'nt agree more. That was the coolest thing I have heard in a long time. Karma will reward them in a big way. I agree with all the bro shit being thrown around these days and the 2 fingers pointing to the ground from all the rubs riding chromed out barges, or all the people showing up at the local bike night with all new leathers when it's fucking 90 degrees out. Sorry for the rant. glad to hear you have a new project and look forward to seeing pics of the build. people like that are getting rare these days. Good for them and you.

Re: Read it, it's worth your time.

Hooty... we missed you this weekend. Your name was brought up many times...

For some of you folks new to this forum, my friend Hooty is my wrench advisor, and one hell of a machinist and tool maker. He's fabbed up several parts for my sled, and has helped me out on a wiring issue, found me a painter, and is the best ridin' buddy a guy could have.

Hooty probably wouldn't post these... but I sure-as-hell-can... show you some of his former rides. Here's his XLC, and this bike (in my view) was a calendar bike.

Here's the bike I liked to call IMBR... Indiana's Most Beautiful Shovel

All I could do for ol' LouEvo was to give him a big ol' (man type) hug, and to buy him breakfast!
