Re: Definitely Wood!

Used to see alot of the old Chris Craft, Sheppards and others around here on the bay and up north in Lake Hopatcong but they are getting scarce. They mostly only come out on wood boat weekend. Must cost a fortune to keep one of those up.

Re: Definitely Wood!

I had a boss that had one of those....real nice boat. He only took it out on pure sunshine, windless, smooth days. Wouldn't even let me fish outta it....how rude!!

My grandpa use to have one of those. Loved the sound of the motor.

Re: Definitely Wood!

Yep, My dad had a 57 ChrisCraft, inline 6 Hercules engine. Had a distinct sound when sitting in the water idling. Man I miss that boat! He bought it from Cypress Gardens and it had pulled six skiers in one shot. Top end was 30 mph but you could pull tree stumps with it.

The boat in the pick is actually a late model some one had built, twin 383's, Bravo 1 drives...Big bucks!
Heres the tag that was with the boat, and another boat thats the real deal.

Re: Definitely Wood!

Worst part of it is, the people that know how to make these boats are dieing off. The talent to repair them is scarce and the labor to fabricate and fit planks and frames is tremendous.
