opinion on fwd controls

This is kind of an update on my project (86 GS550L). The motor is out, the frame has been stripped of all the little tabs & unneeded brackets. I still have to move the kickstand. I will try to get pics today sorry guys
So i need your opinions on where to put the fwd controls, should they go so your legs are above the side covers (inline4 with dohc) wider than the side covers at the same level,or with your legs resting on the side covers. the last is my sons fav , i told him that is going to get hot on his calf, but he is 16 & dad dont know nothin. I am going to try & make the fwd controls, if the boss will let me use the manuals (Bridgeport & Sheldon lathe) at the shop.

I'd love to see pictures. As far as the forwards are concerned they are best suited for the individual that is going to be riding it, whatever fits he or she is the right location.

I agree with kevin, it has to fit the rider, i have seen them on bikes and the rider has to move around to get to the controls.. But they look cool. But to me it would be dangerous...

I like em lower infront of the side covers. But inlines are wide so that might be an issue.
How about keeping the mid controls and using hi-way pegs up higher where your talking about?

Raven,
The width is (oops was) the problem. The bike actually started out as a dad, son project, but it seems to be becoming a son & friend project. Mid controls are gone
