Thumbs up A little progress......

This weekend I managed a few hrs in the shop. The triple is coming along and I have most the wiring complete now. I am after a vintage cafe style so to clean up and simplify the frame area I moved all the wiring and electrical components under the seat. Once I get the paint done and the exhaust blasted and painted I will post better pics. A long ways to go yet. This is far from my normal kind of project but it sure has been fun to do so far.

Very cool!

I didn't know Yammie made a triple...

I worked with a guy in the '70's that had a Triumph Trident, and he let me ride it once. It was a stock bike but as I remember, it would scoot!

Exhaust was awesome- the middle cylinder pipe came forward and "Siamesed" into two, then blended in with the outsides...

They one of those bikes that guys either love or hate, no middle ground. They are known for having probs, not exactly sure what, and a lot think they underpowered compared to others of the same engine size. I think they're pretty cool.

Kev....where you gonna stash the battery?....did I miss it?

......and it's lookin good!!!

The battery is the only thing that will go in the open area, forward closer to the carbs. No side covers etc, should look cool.

I recall when the triples first came out and they were indeed a odd ball and problematic. They were plagued with drivability issues related to carbs and ign, they liked to run on 2 cyls instead of 3! lol They also had trans problems. I always wanted to do a vintage cafe style bike and now is my chance. Hey, but 30 yrs after this one was born it is perfect for my cafe project.

Exactly the way I thought about mine....I needed a shaftie to do the trike build and the price was right. So I grabbed it.
