Chum Bucket....UPDATE

Well here's my latest project....1981 Suzuki GS850...

How it looked when I got it....

lowered the seat rails a bit....about 2 1/2", dropped rear about 3" and front 2"....

chopped up the stock bars and ended up with these....

spent some time with a hammer and the tank......

Soooooo,,,,that's all I've had time to do at this point.....would like some input please....good, bad, constructive.

Re: Chum Bucket....(correct place)

gave a little more love to the tank....making the top curve smoother..I'm having a hard time getting the top front curve/corner to flow smoothly though....is it looking any good?

Re: Chum Bucket....(correct place)

Not flowing properly? looks like it's flowing OK from where I sit. Seeing the hammer your using it is lucky you got it to flow at all. If it were me I would take a run to Harbor Freight and pick up one of those plastic rounded double ended metal forming hammers. But in the end, it's the bondo that will make all thing right.

Re: Chum Bucket....(correct place)

been pretty busy this weekend..my little girl rides horses and have had shows Friday and Saturday then later today....

Hey jerseymutt, the tools of choice for the tank.....

I did have a chance to mess with the bars a bit and the frame...just took the bars to the bench grinder...not the best choice but i was waiting to go to show..anyway,,,,,

a lot more clean up to go...had the bars x-rayed and the welds are good and solid...

Bit of progress....what do you all think of this headlight/speedo arrangement???

the blinkers will go where the big holes are on the h-light bucket....

Re: Chum Bucket....(correct place)

I like it, looks good. The headlight/speedo placement is how I like to do mine, keep them as close as possible. I think it looks better than too far apart.
