So now it does start on the first or second kick! but have prolbs. with gear indexing have no first gear. pulled apart the clutch again all the gears to tran put back together last night and i notice i had the gearcam arms were in reverse . but still no first but three down with it jumping out of gear alot now i will be taking of the kick side cover and cover to gb and relocate the gearchange lever but the book i have dont have a clear pic of cam plate i set it inbetween first and second notch on cp. and the foot lever so that the second tooth is inline with bearing or is it suppose to be on first tooth?

Re: trans. prolbs

Hahaha Indexing can be a bitch! I just reindexed mine this weekend and I am very happy with the way it functions now. I can explain on how to index but I would be typing here for a long time and I have to pack to hit the road tomorrow for work. If you want to call me I could probably explain it easily. PM me if you wish.

Re: trans. prolbs

Ok here is a real fast low down on indexing: Set the camplate to 4th gear position. This is with the top of the cam plate pointing directly to the back of the gearbox case. In this position the cam plates ears will be in the 12 and 6 oclock positions. It is very important that you ensure the cam plate stays in this position while you reassemble the inner cover. Your trans uses the plunger on the camplate instead of the leaf spring so you should be ok. THEN as you slide the inner cover into position ensure the quadrant is all the way up, this is 4th gear position on the quadrant that will give you all your gears once you are done. To make sure you have all your gears once the inner cover is on just uses a big screw driver to move the quadrant through the gears as you rotate the rear wheel. You should feel all gears and it should not pop out of any gear when you turn the rear tire back and forth. The manual is real screwy with the picture of the quadrant position when you are installing the inner cover, if you do it in the position that the manual shows you probably wont have 4th gear. Good luck, its not hard just takes a few trys. You can do it! I am out of town for the remainder of the week but will be checking my email and the forum as time allows.
