DUH. Forgive me. One time the Royal Enfield was a (I may be mistake) British motorcycle. It continued to be MFG in India after the Brits pulled out. Is this the correct forum for an Enfield?

I have a HD but the Enfield looks very clean and have been wanting one for years. It also looks like a really cool bike to chop. The clean look and great prices.

Pig7.de: Modelle

Pig7.de: Enfield Bullet 500 Deluxe

I think the quality has dropped but darn they are cool. I'd really dig a military styled RE.

Re: Royal

I really dig the look of those bikes. But how reliable are they and are they maintenance friendly?

Re: Royal

I think when they first came out a few years ago...there were some quality issues.....But as far as I have heard that has improved!

I have seen one ride two up in Ohio...... and the owner had no complaints!

Still has those good old fashion good looks too!

I think I would research parts availablity before buying.....but they are cool thumpers!

Re: Royal

Royal Enfield has been producing motorcycles since 1900 which may make them the oldest motorcycle company. They ceased production from 1905-1910. I talked to the owner of a Royal Enfield dealer here in Washington and he said they are reliable, simple to work on and parts are readily available. he said they are a lot of fun around town and on country roads. I believe they would be uncomfortable on long trips. Here is a website for parts.Royal Enfield Parts and Accessories | 10,000 Spare Parts for the Classic and Vintage British Motorcycles

Re: Royal

There was an article in the Horse a couple of months ago about some guys who took a trip thru India on Enfields. Sounds as though they didn't have much trouble with the bikes

Re: Royal

I won't mind one of those in my stable. Great vintage looks with some modern upgrades. Price seems resonable too. Nice novelty bike. Wish it came with a twin thou. I used the front wheel with dual lead brakes on my 68 chop i'm building.
