My Kaw sucks BUTT
I went to the doctor this afternoon and upon leaving the office I pulled out of the drive in 1st gear going up hill and when I shifted into 2nd searious grind. I lost a major chunk of 2nd gear it will pull only on a flat surface just off idle anymore than that and it grinds it's ass off....What really sucks is the whole engine has to be torn down just to see what's wrong....

Dang, lots of work just to get at the gear box. Doesnt sound good though.

Got some details on ur bike as in yr, size motor, and so on. might just be something simple.

Yep it's a 1997 Kawasaki Vulcan Classic VN1500D2... I pulled the engine today and tore it down. I have a bent shift fork and where the gears mesh together for second I have major wear...So I need two gears and a new fork.......Just checked it out nand the parts are going to cost me 300.00.....

I need two gears and a new fork.......Just checked it out nand the parts are going to cost me 300.00.....

That sucks especially this close after Christmas. Hope ya get it back together.

I'm going to Kawasaki There was a tranny recall for an improper machined gear failure. Keep the good thoughts I might get lucky....

I feel your pain. I have to remove the engine from my XS1100 Yamaha to rebuild the trans also. MAN am I dreading this project.
