Exile's treatment of a stock Softail
I'm not keen on the "corporate chopper" world but this one caught more than just my eye. To better market their parts, Exile prepped a bone stock Softail Standard with the Russell Mitchell "Scotch Brite" treatment.
I think he's got a hit on his hands. No sheet metal changes; all "unbolt, re-bolt". Some of this stuff is subtle, like the coil relocated, and the spark plug wires re-routed.
Exile has a Dyna in the works... be interested in seeing that one, too.
I like Exile's stuff, and I like Mitchell. In every interview I've read, he makes no apology for the fact he's in this to make money...

Re: Exile's treatment of a stock Softail
Big D,
No business man should ever have to appoligize for making money. Russel has some interesting stuff and has built some nice bikes although the no shiney stuff seems to be wearing thin.
I have seen him at Somerset M/C show twice and he always seems to keep himself inaccessable. Not like the OCC boys that lock themselves in trailers and treat themselves like movie stars but just kind of distant so you never get a chance to just talk bikes or whatever with him. This may be changing as the M/C craze is dieing down, when I saw him it was at the hieght of his popularity.
I hope his parts really take off so I can buy the take off parts cheap at the swap meets and garage sales.

Exile stuff is great. Really cleaned up that bike nicely.

Re: Exile's treatment of a stock Softail
I always like Exile bikes.
I met Russ at a show in Red Deer a while back, he seemed like a real nice guy, easy to talk to as well. Saw the Brown Pearl and the build off Trike up close. They didn't rope off the bikes or anything, so a guy could get right up to see the details.
. It may have been because it was a smaller venue that he was more approachable.
Unlike Roger Goldhammer, who is down right reclusive, but builds some killer bikes
