Rear Axle Question

I was thinking of using a 6 3/4" rear axle out of a Mustang II because I have one easily available and they're smallest / Lightest ones I've found. I'm just curious how well it will worked flipped over so I'll go the right directon. I'm building a Yamaha XS750 trike.
