Can Am

A few weeks back I was in Fargo, ND and saw a dude on one of these. Spoke to him briefly and he said it was wild to ride. V twin powered it seemed to go like a rocket! The snow started to fall so we parted company. Kinda cool.

Re: Can Am Spyder

I was following something that looked like that only in yellow. It looked like it was doing 100 miles an hour standing still at the stop sign but when the guy started to drive he wouldn't go over 35 mph on it and we were in a 50 mph zone. I think he may have scared himself with it.

The one I saw was red. No doubt it is completly different then two wheels, probably take some adjustment time for sure. I sure wouldnt mind giving one a test run.

Re: Can Am Spyder

I took one for a good 1 hour test ride last summer. A lot of guts but it’s more like riding a snowmobile in so much that you steer it rather than lean it through the corners. I wound up taking one corner pretty fast and despite telling myself not to, I leaned it to the point that the left wheel came off the ground and caused the stability system to kick in - must say it works smoothly. The roads in Southern Ontario are somewhat bevelled (Some more than others) so that rain runs off the road and into the ditches. Even though the steering is assisted it still felt like I was forever fighting to keep the thing from wandering into the ditch. The other thing that I found hard to get used to was that it does not have a front break lever. Like a car it has a single foot / break pedal. The ride itself is extremely smooth. I was purposely hitting some bumps to test the suspension. The guy behind me said that while the rear tire was bouncing up and down I was not. Overall the machine is quite advanced (Even has reverse), comfortable, powerful and fun. At the time of my test ride, there was little in the way of accessories like saddlebags etc but it has a lot of potential. Somebody in our small town has one and I noticed that he carries his folded wheelchair attached to it.

Re: Can Am Spyder

Snowmobile is the first thing i thought of, when i saw one of those for the first time. There is a yellow one in town that i have seen a few times. Not for me, unless i get to old to ride a bike. Then maybe but i think a trike would be my choice, if i get to that point.
