what's going on here ?

Been out with the flu for about a week. Man, that sucked. I've never been that sick. Took me out of the game big time. Hope everyone is taking care of themselves and fighting off this shit. Been checking in when I can but not posting. Just now getting back to the shop this week and trying to catch up. Picked up another project. Not sure where this one is going, but could'nt pass this one up. It's a shovelhead with a ratchet top 4 speed in a knucklehead frame. Done some trading for it on my shop truck . Frame needs some attention but the sidecar loops are still there and nobody has hacked it up too bad. I'll post up the build when I decide what I'm doing with it. Here are a couple of pics as it sits right now. Will be tearing it down and working on the frame next week and try to restore it to it's former glory. Everyone keep healthy and post up what your doing for this winters projects. And : MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR PROJECTS. I hope for everyone to have a better year then last. Later dudes !!

Re: what's going on here ?

Looks like a fun project. Late model solid (almost) wheels, knuckle frame, shovel tanks and engine, wish it were mine but I have other projects sitting in the garage that I'm ignoring. Have fun.

Re: what's going on here ?

Yeah, my other projects are feeling neglected also. Good thing is I have plenty of time to wrench on them. Bad thing is, I have plenty of time to wrench on them , as the shop is dead right now. With the holidays and the economy, I think it's bad for everyone this time of year. Hope everyone pulls thru this and keeps their heads above water. ( or snow )

Re: what's going on here ?

Just noticed the Craftsman lower tool chest in the bottom right of the last picture, how old is that thing? Just cause I'm still using a bottom on one of my tool boxes that is older then I am is no reason you should be too. Love them old Craftsman tool chests.

Re: what's going on here ?

Yeah ,that thing is older than I am I think. I bought out a shop a couple of years ago and this one was in on the deal. Just using it right now to store the frame jig parts and misc. tools. It also came with an older than dirt Kennedy top and bottom box. I gave that one to my youngest son. I pulled alot of old tools out of that shop. Including an old arbor press , the guy said it was the out of the first harley dealer in indianapolis. May have been telling me stories, but I already paid for it and was loading it , so he had no reason to lie. I love old tools. They have so much history in them. I wish some of them could talk. Wow, what stories they could tell.

I love old tools too. I don't seem to be able to pass up a wrench with Ford script on it and I'd love to find one that isn't a small fortune that says Indian on it.

Those old boxes were built tough and they hold tools as well as the new ones.

Hello, Thank you. Finally got it stripped down and the frame cleaned up. Man, there was about 30 years worth of crud on it.
Checking everything out now and seeing if it's straight or needs to be. Should be a fun project. Also picked up a freshly rebuilt shovelhead yesterday. Would really like to find a knuck motor to put back in it. But , the funds are no where near being able to afford one. I cant even afford the ones that need alot of work. LOL
Well, here's what it looks like now. Gonna be a long winter.
Merry christmas to all the good folks here at bf.
Anyone heard from hooty ? Or how his project is coming along ?

Re: what's going on here ?

Sorry, forgot the pics. Celebrating a little early. hahaha
Looks like the only things they messed up are the rear tank mounts, the seat post, and the tool box mount. The seat post has to be sqwished in order to put a later model pan or a shovelhead in this frame. Other than these little fixes, looks pretty good. imho.
