Smile Solitary rides...And Brittany's Return!

Many of us ride in groups, on organized rides, poker runs, etc. I rarely do this, opting instead with maybe one other rider, or most frequently alone. Thought I'd post up some pic's of some of these, as a result of some of us talking at lunch.

Note that I live in east-central Indiana, and there is hardly anything of interest there. Hell, I have to ride 40 miles to find a curve in the road!

This first is a gag, contrasting what I find on rides, compared to some of the National Geographic scenery some see, like out in the Pac NW.

Corn field:

Here's a stainless sculpture at a local cultural arts center I think is pretty cool...

In the tiny whistle-stop town of Cammack, someone had remodeled a Phillips 66 station into a diner. Got a good tenderloin here...

Last summer, the only business to hit this little diner came on farm machinery!

Saw this old steamer locomotive just rusting away near Connersville, IN.

IN has a few covered bridges left. Here's Potter's Bridge in Noblesville.

This one is in Matthews, IN. They have a festival here every fall.

How on earth did Brittany get in here??? **sigh**

This is cheating a little, but late last fall, Hoosier XLC and I got out in the woods. Here's Scott and his magnificent Shovel...

...and finally, I had to re-visit this place to get more pic's of the Superglide with my new paint...

Hey, anybody get out on a solo ride and remember to take the camera?

Cool pictures. Do you know why they covered those bridges?
Here are a few pictures but you have probably seen them before.

Re: Those good solitary rides...

Fantastic pics man! Thanks for taking the time tp post them. I am not into the group ride gig either, like to ride myself and stop and see things along the way, I find it much more enjoyable than group riding doing 90 mph just to get nowhere. Also many of the group rides around here ya end up riding with a crowd you dont know and well I dont dig that at all. Nothing like doing it yourself, riding that is!!

Big D,

Ya don't have to ride alone, try some deoderant LOL. Sorry I couldn't help myself I've been drinking.

Nice picks though. I have the same probelm I have to do alot of miles to find scenery. I have some nice places to ride but when I take the pictures they look kind of boring. Now if your into strip malls we have plenty of those. Some of the trashiest in the country. Just watch the movie Clerks and you will see one of them.

I've heard this story... the roof was to protect the roadbed, which was all wood. And the sides were entirely covered in planks so the horses wouldn't see the water and spook. No idea if this is true...

Goshawk, those are fantastic! Dude: I gotta get a chrome belt guard. Your bike is niiiiice!

Great shot of St. Helens... two days after she blew, I got up to find our cars, which had dew on them, entirely covered with white ash! And that was in Indiana!

Oh, yeah....
