:shock: Just got a call from my doctor. I went in Fri. for a MRI on my back, been having a lot of problems lately, seems I have a herniated disc. They're setting up a consultation appointment for me with a back surgeon. Oh goody.

Don't mess around man, let them fix ya up. it may be hard to accept that you will have some down time, but a short down time is way better than the alternative a long time down with no hope of recovery. i hope in your case it is minor in the grand scheme of life.

Talked to the surgeon today, guess we're going to do the epidural injection first. If that doesn't work, then we'll do surgery. I can have up to 3 injections in a year. I hope it works.

I feel for ya, I have 2 hernia's in my lower back. The shots didn't do anything so waiting them (workers comp) to approve the surgery.........

Good, glad to see they are trying alternatives before they start cutting. The shots don't work for some but the surgery doesn't work for some either. I would also consider acupuncture - don;t laugh. A lot of the cure will depend on the hands that are doing the work, so try your best to get a good one.

The Doc says it runs about 30% end up having surgery, the rest about half and half with those that return for 3 or more injections and those he never sees again after the 1st one. He's thinking since I don't get the radiating pain down the leg but once in a while, I'll probably need more than one but won't need surgery.

I just asked him to get through 4 more years at work, then I retire and don't give a shit.
