| | | New or preowned bikes?
How many mostly buy their bikes from an individual, rather than a new one at the Store? I do, I like saving anywhere form 20 to 30%. I like buying the bike used from a guy who rarely rode it,and decided he didnt wanna' be a motorcylist after all, hehe.
He put all that after market stuff on it,when he first got it, but now wants to get rid of it.
That's how one can save the 20 to 30%, and chances are the Bike hasnt got any miles on it.
However, one needs to have the cash to ''wheel and deal on the spot''. <g> {staggerLee}

I bought my bike @5 years ago, it had 6,000 miles on it and it's a 1989. I guess you know my answer. I see guys spending 20K on a new bike and think of all the things I can do with that extra money I am not spending. Also I am seven years from retirement and it's not the time to be throwing away money.

Well I have owned countless bikes over the last 30 odd some years of riding and have only bought 2 new ones and I wont do that again. Like cars I like to buy a year or two old and let someone else take the hit. I just got this 06 1100 on the road and it is brand spanking new, it now has about 4500 miles on it and I am into it for less then 2 grand! Like mutt I am about 6 yrs from retirement so now is not the time to toss money away on anything new.

I bought my '07 FXD at the end of January, it had less than 1k on it.
It now has about 7.5k on it and It has been in the shop since the wreck on July 4th. (put a few miles on it...lol)
It's the newest one I have ever bought. Everything else has always been used and abused.
As far as retirement, I have a long way to go being only 44.
But I too have the issue of no pension. So, I guess I'll be working until I check out of this world...lol

Richard I have been retired for 10 years.. I am 67 years old. Enjoying myself. But you really got to watch you money... There is never very much extra for toys and projects. But I have a great wife and she lets me change hobbies like socks. I usually sell something I have and get what I want with the money.
