I just joined and thought i would say Hello. I just bought a 79 XS 650 that i am going to chop.

Thanks. Well i got a battery, plugs and some gas today. After a few issues it fired up on the 3 kick, not bad for a bike that had been sitting for 3 years. I gotta give the guy i got it from some credit, he stored it well. I plan to try and get the engine running good then i will begin the chopping. Is there anybody on here that lives on the island.

Welcome and congrats on the bike. always nice to start a project when you know its running from the start. Dont forget to take pics of the progress. Itll make it much more fun to look back at how it used to look.

I've got a pal out that way on the mainland, but is planning a trip to the island. He's running an old 80" flattie in a softail frame and just made a small trailer for it for the trip to the island. I'll see if I can contact him and get him over to this site.
