Sprint hardtail bobber

this is my first post on this forum. been lurking for a while and found some good info to help with my first build.
it's a 1965 Harley-Aermacchi 250 Sprint that we are building a small hard tail bobber for my small (4'11'') wife. i got a little ahead of myself and cut the swing arm off, then found the thread for ''easy hard tail build'' where you weld to the adjusters then cut off swing arm...ooops, I'll know better next time. so now I'm in the process of building a jig. trying to somewhat copy this
Hard tail build
here's some pics of my progress so far. again it's my first learn as I go build so any advice and/or criticism is welcome.
this is what I started with, I traded a 100 gallon fish aquarium for it

hacked to pieces

cut the original seat pan into a solo

rough mock up, already dropped the seat, rear of tank and lifted the front to make it flow better

and the jig so far gona start working on the tail section tomorrow

Re: Sprint hardtail bobber

Hello XKROME and Welcome! Seen you lurkin, glad you took the time to drop a post. Well let me say that is the perfect little project! I love the small cc bobbers and they are really starting to become a popular build, especially the jappers.

The method we show here is a fantastic method. While not step by step it gets you thinking and it is a great way to do a rear section, easy and pretty much anyone can do it.

Being as you have started whacking already your best bet is to continue with that simple jig, keep things true and level and you will be good to go. Its far from rocket science.

How much stretch are you looking at for the rear section?

Great project!! Keep us posted.

Re: Sprint hardtail bobber

not sure about the stretch. any recommendations? probably just enough to get the minimum tire, fender and seat clearance needed. try to keep it compact. the tail section of jig is going to adjust fore and aft as well as up and down so I can use for other builds in the future.

Thats a stubby bike , I would look at 4 - 6" of stretch in the rear section, also consider your wifes height and reach and what fits her.

Re: Sprint hardtail bobber

Traded for a fish tank, I'd say you got a good deal.

Although you hacked, you can un-hack to get the frame set up so you can hard tail according to the EZ hardtailing instructions but it's fun to have a jig for future projects. This stuff is addicting.

would that be 4-6'' passed where the original swingarm ended?

Yes, the wheel would be 4-6" further back.

Re: Sprint hardtail bobber

cut, and grinded on the frame. got some more done on the jig today. gota go get different axle and spacers tomorrow so I can finish up the tail piece, then it's off to get the tubing and start bending.
