Newbie to this forum
Hey boys (& gals?)
was referred by the boss, so I thought I'd drop by to see what's the lowdown at the hoedown.
first post will be a pic of my newly finished bike.
My first ground-up build. Yah, she needs a paint job (or not) but she's mine, all mine.
custom softail frame, 2" up, 38* rake, '66/'83 shovelhead engine, 5-spd. powerhouse tranny, 8" over wide glide, stock 16" on the rear, 21" dual discs on the front, I originally built it with a suicide clutch/jockey shift set up on it, but because of my physical limitations due to injury, I switched it to regular hand clutch/foot shift. 3.5 gal. stretched tanks, sprung solo, lots of homemade shit on it. She runs great, and is a quarter ton of fun.

Re: Newbie to this forum
Worked hard for it? man, that's an understatement! I could go on for days about how hard it was for me to get this bike done, falling from a ladder on the job and having to close my business because of my injuries. Going 4 years with no money coming in other than the wife's part-time job, and raising 3 young boys at the same time. Having to sell the bikes I had in order to eat, then slowly buying parts, borrowing pieces, doing artwork for more parts, selling, buying, trading, everything but stealing the needed pieces for just over 5 long years to finally hear it roar to life. Yah, she's not pretty, but she's mine, and I built it. Lots of blood, sweat, tears and going without just to be able to buy yet another part that might fit, or trading it for one that will. In the garage til the early morning light, pounding metal into the shape I wanted with a 16-oz. hammer. Now, I'm not complaining at all, now that it's running, I can look back and say, it's alot better than having the money or borrowing from the bank and paying for it for 10 years while watching it deteriorate, I did it alone, and I don't owe anything on it, except to the guys on the boards that donated their knowledge and spare parts, some that fit, some I had to manipulate, trade or sell for the part I needed. I owe those guys everything. Other than that, she's mine, all mine.
Thanks guys, the kind words mean everything, and are highly appreciated.

That's great.
Pretty much anybody can get a loan and buy something from the dealer. But to make it yourself and pay the price is pretty amazing. All of us who built our own share your joy and pride - ride safe and God bless

That makes the bike all the sweeter, when you do it like that. Again glad to have you here.
