info on calif laws calling all calif. chopper builders

here'e my deleama: i got a ticket the other night, the day my regs expired, got pull over for no license plate. figures i had to tighten it up every once in a while, needless to say the police frown on this.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,wait.. it gets worse........... ask for my dl and reg. insur. which i did have one of the three. it gets worse ..........now there looking at numbers engine and frame,,asking me whose bike it is and looks like a POS.......(piece of shit) and it prob. had not been regs. in the last 5yrs now he tells me he should just tow it in and asked me do i have motorcycle endorsment.........opps now did i mention i got a new license but did not take the driven part of the test because i knew my putt was short a few parts , now i have a deadline of may26 to try to clear my unblemished drivers license with a ticket for no lics plt , and no motcy indors. but ...........i did have it insured.............all and all i guess i was lucky.? the two very large officers handed me my dl back with this $400.00 ticket that puts 2 points on my dl record.......then last of all tells me if he catches me on the street he'll take my bike and put me in jail ........now have a nice night.......
iv'e had better nights i was loaded down with power tools , cords, change of clothes (was on my way to my girls crib and leave in morn) o yea in my backpack i had my laptop, that they kick and asked whats u got in there. so what this long story is all about is........can i find out what was mandatory on my T120RDU49104 what was on it, or im sure once its been altered there is a whole new set of rules. if you can let me know for calif laws on the 1967 bonnie i started with my list i think would be a must just got to recall my 60's days just out of high school. what im working on is 1 is stop switch (mounted needs wiring along with kill switch, with H/L beam switch) and i was told i need a speedo or tack and i know i need a horn, is the squeeze honking type cool? 2mirras?.all info is appreciated alot.
here's where i stand now pics. 2wks to finish on a zero buget.......well a very low one anyway!!!!!!!!! u can call me if you like

Re: info on calif laws calling all calif. chopper builders

Don't know the laws in Cali but here in NJ we could get the MC endorsement, plead guilty to the no plate and plead the endorsment down to a lesser offense avoiding the points but it would cost ya.

Jersey says one mirror is required and a horn. I have gone through inspection with a ball squeeze type horn and a mirror from a bicycle both bought at the 5&10 cent store (am I showing my age here, do they still have them) and both removed after inspection. I also made a rear fender extension from sheet metal and had the exhaust packed with coarse steel wool held in with a bolt at the end of the short pipes. Good thing they didn't test my brakes. Now I either don't get my bike inspected or go to a private inspector and avoid the state.

Re: info on calif laws calling all calif. chopper builders

you only need what was on the bike new. i have 2 tri chopper. youll get harrassed for a squeeze horn. 1 mirror, horn, head light-does not have to remain on at all times, and you do not need blinkers for a bike made before '74, and mufflers.

Cool Re: info on calif laws calling all calif. chopper builders

ok i got my new permit only till i take the driven test or take a safety course from CHP. i am doing a complete wire check and adding high and low beam switch, i have my brake light working with pedal this time. battery is very low on acid/water from vibration i guess, it is only 3 or 4 mos. old. the tail/brake light has broken 3 or more times also from vibs.
the court gives me till june 22 . lil breathing room phew. here's where im at now

i know looks ugly

check back in when i finish making a new wiring harness ill be doing it a little different and neater . using boyer ign. and mitymax control modual.

Oh hell....looks good to me. I hate wiring. Too bad it's a neccessary evil. Somebody to invent a wireless set-up.

Re: info on calif laws calling all calif. chopper builders

Couple of suggestions especially seeing how vibration is effecting your battery. Put something soft under the battery. Years ago we used to use scrap pieces of carpet and put them under the battery and sometimes on the sides if it would fit, it would help to keep the batteries from cracking and it would stop them from rubbing holes in the bottom of the case. You may want to consider a sealed battery. And two, get rid of the orange twist caps and solder those connections. You may know this and be doing it in your rewire, not trying to tell you what to do just making a suggestion.
