i feel this is a winning plan triumph valve timing
this is what i have in mind to do today , even thouh its sunny skys and dry weather and the triumph is running . but i know its not dialed in last time i set the cams , i set both of them in the middle of there flat area of the camshafts. i will be little pressed for time but i think i can get it done in a hour or two
and the clook starts NOW.. as follows:
Ignition timing is the easiest part, the CAM timing is not so simple!
first i will need to set the crankshaft first, WITH THE PUSHRODS REMOVED, at TDC to ascertain the pinion marking (should be straight at the top of the pinion), give it a touch of white nail polish to keep track of it.
Next, set up the cams "by the book" so that the appropriate lobes are positioned per the diagrams, about to be actuating the appropriate rockers on the appropriate cylinders.
Now install the intermediate pinion with the proper mark at the bottom, aligned with the crank pinion mark.
Lastly, install the cam pinions with thier marks in proper alignment with the intermediate pinion marks.
When all the mechanicals are done, re-set the crank to 38 degrees BTDC with the locating tool behind the cylinder, and set your static ignition timing.
Should be good to go.
