details

Here is a picture of some of my parts and pieces all shoe-horned into a small rigid BSA frame.

The switch on the top tube is hidden under the tank....for brights...

The bracket with no coils in it....is for 6volt coils....

There is an oil filter and a housing for a key switch and light switch.

The top of the battery holder also holds the podtronic unit and a boyer ignition next to it.

Very nice, looks simple a clean. The light switch is a cool idea and nicely done.

the battery box

The battery box is something I made on a mill..... my own design... I thought about having some perforated sheetmetal bent to fit inside and cover the battery from view..... its still a work in progress....

Oh yeah.... a neat work enviornment...NOT!

you would not believe it.....

thanks Raven

I'll be the first to tell you.....I have had many "bad" ideas..... the back to the drawing board types.... Some ideas start out with good intentions but actually look like shit.... (well to me anyways)

My plan is to keep the bike as simple as possible...but with everything fitting together like they belong there! Less is more! But I do want certain extras.... that just make sense. (oil filter).....

I will say....the next one will be easier... (well I say that now).... but I know what my big mistakes have been.... And I'll remember to do something about it from the start. I certainly could have used a little more stretch on that hard tail. (I started with a frame someone else had already).

I really do have respect for engineers and designers that came out with even a stock "good looking" bike (I am thinking of a late 60's BSA).... of course not all their ideas were always good... but if anything....I learned that it is just not that simple or easy!!!!
(even with wonderful machinery at my disposal). And there is a curse to being a mold maker....you want everything "perfect".... and it doesn't need to always be that way. I enjoy seeing things built that are just simple ideas and done at home with simple tools.... many times those ideas are brilliant.....

I have spent many hours looking at different things at hardware stores... to get ideas....or to try to solve a problem. Of course the clerks all probably refer to me as the guy who buys nuts and bolts (stainless)....
