and so here we go again
starting the teardown again on my 67 T120R last time i went threw it i made a BAD mistake and failed to split the cases and my sulge got plugged and i had a oil failer on freeway which left me with a bad taste in my mouth!.......now with a rod knock i will be tearing down and putting in new bearing and bushings on if im lucky i wont have to turn the crank ........... im not known for being lucky! so im asking for little help with engine specks. need to know crank, rod, piston rings gap and what ever i will need to check ,
may need to put oversize bearing and turn crank but will know better in a day or so if i know what the specks are i do know that it is .020 over on pistons now.
needless to say my money is funny so im doing all but machine work which will be done at ashland grindings ive had lots of work on my race engines in the past

THIS WEATHER IS KILLING ME NOT BEING ABLE TO ENJOY IT

thanks for all info in advance guys MotherPutter

my best friend terry told me make a change to ty guys and gals

Re: day one of teardown

Well the tear down isnt rocket science, its mechanical and it goes together just as it comes apart, anyone can do it. Take your time, keep everything in order and get a good manual for the rebuild and specs. I might be able to hook you up with a .pdf file. Good luck and have fun with it.

Re: day one of teardown

sludge traps..... they certainly need attention! It's almost too bad they didn't build in an access area to clean it out without tearing down the whole bike!

One friend of mine suggested very frequent oil changes..... as a kind of insurance against this kinda thing. Keep the oil clean. I will be running an external oil filter on my BSA..... along with keeping the oil fresh.....

Good luck with the teardown.....

Re: day one of teardown

Your friend Terry is very wise.

Good luck with your project. It a shame it's the wrong time of the year to have to do this. Same crap happens to me all the time.

Once you start your gonna live in the garage. That's what happens to me anyway. Keep us posted on progress. Love a cool build.
