current build

I just posted my intro so heres my current build. Its a land speed racing sidecar. The frame was knocked out on the garage floor as was the fiberglass. The motor is a Weslake 500cc speedway engine and the rest is mostly junk that was laying around the garage. The motor was in my Norton and has run 125. With better streamlining I'm hoping for a good bit more.

Holy crap! That thing looks fast just sitting there! Very interesting to say the least.

Re: current build

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, it steers. The SCTA rules limit steering lock to 15 deg. each side so the turning radius is impressive! Heres a shot of the front end. The trees and remains of the legs are Kawasaki. I cut the neck 4" to try and lower the overall height. The front wheel is an old 10" Austin mini.

Re: current build

Sorry, I'm a bit retarded when it comes to computers. This is the motor and now changed rear wheel mounting. The gas tank is a Manx oil tank. The fuel is pumped up to the carb and the overflow is returned just as the tank was designed for.

The new rear wheel mount. Triumph wheel, drum brake. I'm still not happy with it. I have another idea that I may try over the winter.
[/IMG]
The sidecar wheel is a 5" kart wheel and spindle.

Re: current build

Been a while. Finally found the AMC trans I've been looking for. Neat thing was a friend had it. Didn't know I was looking for one and as soon as I said I was looking for one he gave one to me!! Free at that. The best way. The steering linkage has recieved a ball race instead of a bushing. I've sawn off the rear wheel mounting and new mountings have been cut and will be welded up this weekend. Then its new trans mounting plates and we will be nearly ready for the May El Mirage meet.
