Re: New project starts tomorrow

Well I spent yesterday cleaning up parts. I found that my inner primary is cracked on one of the attachment points and will need to be welded before I put it together. Then I was checking the clutch basket and found that it had gotten full of water and had rust all over it. I was able to clean it up but the disks and plates are toast.. the bearings on the clutch hub were all rusted. but the retainer ring was still good, just needed come cleaning. I had a new set of bearings and was able to put it together.

I installed all the steel tubing to hook up the oil flow from the engine to the rocker covers, and the connecting tubing from cover to cover.

Got in some small parts today, will work on it again tomorrow.

I'm going to have to modify the left tank to fit over the coil on the S&S. But that should no problem.

Spent some time with the polish to clean up some of the shiny stuff. Lots of work to do, and parts to beg, barrow or buy..

Will take some pic's tomorrow.

Roger

Re: New project starts tomorrow

Well today I was able to clean the steel plates for the clutch up and they should be usable but the fiber plates are toast.

Then I started working on my son in laws 1990 Springer Softail. While transporting in a pickup a few months ago the wiring was ripped out and later due to a short it caught fire, and burned up the brake lines and some wiring. I have replaced all the wiring and got a new brake lines that came by FedX yesterday..Then I put them in today.

Now I have to load it in a trailer and take it to my kids house Saturday. One less project.. .. I'm not riding it because it is not registered in California and has no plates or insurance. It came from Iowa, and we met the guy in Wyoming, one long trip, but thats another story.

Here is a picture of it... Also a shot of his 2004 Swift Punisher, Thats me sitting on it, and pouting. I had to rebuild the trans in this one a few month ago due to an accident. He was hit in the shifter lever and it ruined the shifting forks. But its on the road again..

Re: New project starts tomorrow

Well today I hooked up the rear shock, had to install new shock mounts. Can't decide if I want to run air shocks or springs. Had to modify the swing arm a little to made room for the GMA rear shock mount an caliper.

I have two oil bags, one is stock and the other is a chrome bag like seen on softails. Not sure which one I will use. Have to make some mounts to hold either one.

Had to clean out a bunch of bolt holes, we have mud dobbers here and they like to fill all small spaces with mud to store eggs.

Got to find someone who can weld aluminium (sp) to repair the crack in the inner primary housing.

Bid on a set of front calipers today, lost oh well there will be more..
