Well I got a new scoot.

Well its new to me anyway.. I traded my dune buggy and a 55 Ford F100 for a 1979 HD FXEF Shovelhead. It had dual plug heads, and came with a SU Carb Setup. Not so sure about that. It will need to tlc. I have been cleaning and fixing small stuff all day. The first problem I found was i had a fuel leak at the carb. Could not see where it was coming from then noticed that there was no hose clamp on the fuel line...

I had a leak from the case to the rocker arm covers. Made a new one from some 3/16 steel line. Worked, will order the right one later this week. The starter did not work. Found that the starter relay is bad. I can start it by kicking or by shorting the starter selnoid. Will get a new relay and that should take care to that.

Here are a few pictures of the scoot. What ya think....

Re: Well I got a new scoot.

That's a cool bike, you can have alot of fun with that one. Looks like someone raked it a bit, how's it handle/steer?

Also see your a collector of Ford pickups. I like that black early 60's step side in the back ground. Had a white one years ago that used to belong to the Ocean County Mosquito Commision when it was new. The chemicals rotted it out bad and the thing always smelled like DDT but more people came up to tell me what a cool truck I had. They have classic looks I guess.

No I don't know the history, I haven't talked much with the guy I got it from. I know it needs a lot of little thing. The wiring needs cleaned up. I started that today, I am installing all new circuit breakers, they are all cruddy looking.

The electric leg would not work, I spend the day trying to figure out why. I was setting watching the transformers about 45 min ago, and a light bulb came on and I went out in dark with a flashlight and changed some of the wires on the starter relay and pow she started up by pushing the button.... Al right....Good thing I figured it out now because i would have stayed awake all nite trying to figure it out.. I have to find a cap to the rear MC, it came off going down the road while the bike was being delivered to my place...

Got a friend trying to find one in his parts pile in the morning...

Roger

Re: Well I got a new scoot.

Was going through some of my old junk and found a cap for my mastercylinder.. I new I had one somewhere. Well today I made seat mounts and put some springs on the seat. Raised it up a little and it sits better. Also changed out the honda air shocks and put some 12 1/2 Harley shocks. Rides better and looks better to. Them Honda shocks was ugly...

Replace a bunch of old bolts, all the new circuit breakers are installed, new relay, wiring tied down. Looking better...

Forgot to mention that mama took carb cleaner and removed all the bbq paint from the pipes.. It looks like brushed aluminum now.. better that the nasty looking bbq paint.
